The way I understand it, the evolution people say they know the orgin of life, and the agnostic people say they don't. Seems kind of contradictory to have both on there at the same time.

Then again, he's got lots of bananas. And multicolored Jesus.

believing in evolution doesn't necessarily mean you don't believe in God

Agnostics are atheists too afriad of being labeled an atheist.

you are confusing evolution with abiogenesis...most people do that

furthermore, an agnostic can 100% (well, agnostics rarely deal in absolutes...let's make that 99%) believe in abiogenesis.

The origin of life isn't as pertinent to the existence of a god or god(s) as you may think.

But it does rule out beyond reasonable doubt some assumptions made in certain holy writs. *ahem*

I maintain that until we establish beyond reasonable doubt that the universe is a) causeless or b) was caused by some force with properties very different from any God we've come up with, the possibility of a Creator, creator(s), or some cosmic meaning behind our really nifty existence is still up in the air.

I think that a limited amount of spirituality will be with us for a very long time; even if we take most of the matter in the universe and use it for computation, even if we collectively evolve toward and become a god, there will (I believe) always be many new things to ponder, and lots we'll never know for sure, because our intelligence is (afawk) limited to this universe. The only form of communication with other universes would be to send data in graviton pulses, and it's unlikely that would have any pratical use unless both universes were blossoming with sentience. I guess if most universes had such powerful sentient presences together they might develop an emergent property like some sort of super-god, but that's very unlikely seeing as how the matter in our universe has a finite lifespan (about 10^36) years and the physical laws in other universes can be very different. And the range of states supporting sentient life (I'm told) is narrow...

And on TOP of that, everything we know or some of what we know might by an elaborate illusion, or something that may almost definitively suggest order might be astronomically coincidental...I mean, we do the best with the information we have, and that pool of information will always be limited.

uggh I guess I'm rambling but my point is that no matter how powerful we become, it's not likely we'll ever understand some of the most important of life's questions.

Evolution actually has nothing to do with the origin of life. Thats a different theory. Usually agnostic people are logical enough to recognize there is no proof for god, and are therefore logical enough to recognize there is mounds of evidence for evolution.

well some 45 out of every 100 anyway

although most of the remaining tend to believe that God was behind all of it.

No, the fact that people don't recognize the certainty of evolution and the uncertainty of God.. Thats Americas problem.
