My bunny will not be for eating.

kthnx.

He's used for sweaters.

Seriously though I read that Angora fur can be sold for 10$ per 2 ounces of fur...and you don't have to kill them...just clip them like sheep.

in about 3 or 4 months you will have to have "him" (are you sure it is a him?- it's usually VERY hard to tell until they are ~6months old) neutered or "he" will start spraying pee all over everything and will hump everything. You are in Charleston for the summer right? There is an awesome rabbit vet in Mt. P where my bunny goes. I think the surgery is about $100 for males, a little more for females. It was one of the things I didn't know I would have to do when I got a rabbit, but if you don't, they could develop cancer quite rapidly since they have such an abundance of hormones in their bodies (females esp - the males are just really hard to deal with unneutered b/c all they want to do is piss on everything and hump).

Oh yeah, if you need any rabbit help or whatever, just ask.

Another big thing while I'm remembering things I didn't know when I first got my bunny: you can't just feed it pellets. The vet I go to said I should use the Oxbow Hay company feeds- www.oxbowhay.com- (and the bunny loves them) b/c they are the best nutritionally balance wise without the sugars and seeds and other unhealthy stuff that causes GI stasis in bunnies. They are only supposed to get about 2 tablespoons of pellets a day and the rest should be all veggies. There is a list or recommended veggies at www.houserabbit.org.

One last thing: bunnies can't vomit. This becomes a big issue with bunnies with fur like on Angoras. The bunny will groom itself and the fur gets lodged in its stomach. You have to brush that rabbit every day in order to prevent this and make sure it eats a lot of hay. A rabbit should be allowed to eat as much hay is it wants- babies get alfafa hay and after 6 months old they get timothy hay. Don't feed alfafa based pellets or hay to a bunny over 6 months old. It has a lot of fat and calcium which isn't good for adult bunnies.

The ethical thing for you to do is get it a vasectomy and get him a female bunny, so they can go nuts without you getting a bunch of little bunny babies.
