Willy korn is transferring. /big whoop. Also retiring #28... Really Dabo? I mean spiller was good, but he wasn't legendary. Legendary players win championships and hesimans, not ACC player of the year.

Correction: legendary TEAMS win championships. No matter how good one player is, he can't win on his own (granted, Spiller tried pretty darn hard to do so against GT). As far as retiring his jersey, the fact that he only needs about 100 yards more in the bowl game to have the 2nd most career all-purpose yards in the history of college football is a pretty good selling point.

He holds 34 records or so between the school, ACC, and nation. Retiring jersey also gets him in the ring of honor.

Aren't you supposed to get your number retired after you have a successful professional career and then come back to get celebrated by your alma mater? Retiring numbers seems pretty cheap these days.

You talk about lack of consistency, then bring up how good jackson *used* to be. Those stats are league-wide (or did you think the ACC had 120 teams?).

You can look at year-long stats and see that our defense, compared to everybody else that GT played, was on-par. GT has a very good running game, and I'm not shocked at how well they did. The only outlier for our defense was USC, and I suspect that we just really weren't properly motivated or prepared (who gives a shit about in-state rivals when you're going for your first title game in almost 20 years for either team?).

Our 3 worst rushing defense days were the 2 GT games and USC. Our of their 13 games, GT's total yards against us in the ACCCG was 5th highest.

Gt's average total yards for their season per game was 463, and they put 469 on us. Their average passing and rushing yardage respectively were 146 and 314; they put 136 and 333 on us (roughly their average) in the ACCCG.

We allowed a record-setting-low of 54 yards against BC, and held half our opponents under 300 yards offense. We allowed an average of 317 yards per game, 166 passing, and 150 rushing. GT's rushing total, average for them, was our highest allowed all season, and well higher than our defensive average. That speaks more for GT just being good than us being bad.

The last thing I'd mention is that the problem with our last two games wasn't that our defense was bad, it was that our defense was on the field SO much of the game. The time of possession for USC was 36 min, and for GT was 38 min. When you're on the field that much trying to defend, it doesn't matter how good you are, you're going to have a lot of yards, and therefor points.

I've been at every home game this year. I wasn't sure where the guy was pulling the stats from. Also I did care about the Carolina game as some fans say I rather lose every game and still beat carolina at the end. However, the gt game also disappointed a lot of fans. When are we going to win a championship?
